New kilt
Last December I made arrangements with Dunadd to have a kilt made for my 50th from some tartan a friend brought back from Geoffrey Tailor years ago. Not surprisingly it wasn't up to the kiltmakers usual standards, so it was decided to splurge and just do a complete kilt from scratch, using Locharron 16 oz strome. It arrived a couple weeks ago, the material is quite nice, and I though I'd post some pics.

Nice kilt. I like the tartan. They made it small didn't they? Was that how you wanted it? When I ordered my last two kilts I gave my measurements so that they would be on the last hole on the strap. I need to loose weight so that makes me a little more motivated.

Great looking kilt. Gorgeous tartan. What tartan is it? It will certainly look great in full-dress mode, eg. PC, vest, etc. Post some pics for us to drool over. :-)
And, Happy 50th!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

What tartan is it? I like the gray tones.

tartan
Weathered Hunting MacRae.
It is a bit small Cowher; I thought perhaps it might form a bit as the liner is more substantial than some, and the material itself is quite heavy. Fits more like a 32/37 than 34/35 40/41. Thigh measurement was 36/37, so possibly mixed up with breech.
At least it will encourage me not to gain weight, lol.

Nice kilt, but it is definitely too small in the waist. I suggest you contact the kiltmaker about this problem.

They are sending extension straps. I was livid when I first got it, which I regret. It came down to keep the kilt and move the buckles, or return it for a full refund. I liked the material so much i decided to keep it....and I confess I'd been so looking forward to it that i couldn't really bear the thought of returning it, an emotional indulgence I truly hope to surmount as at my age it is a bit childish.

In your shoes, I would find the fit unacceptable. Custom made kilts are far too expensive to tolerate that.

I'd echo that sentiment.... it doesnt look like you have a whole lot of weight to drop to make it fit better either...
