    Canadian Scottish Regiment Centennial Parade

Our local infantry reserve regiment, The Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's), celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. This last weekend was the culmination of the celebrations, and I attended the Regimental Centennial Parade on Sunday. The Colonel-in-Chief, HRH Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, was to have attended, but illness prevented her from attending.

Pre-parade concert music was provided by musicians of the 15th Field, RCA Band and 5th (B.C.) Field, RCA band.

The pipe band marches into the park. Members of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise's), the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, and the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada supplemented the regimental pipes and drums.

    The battalion marches in.

    No. 2 Guard.

    The Colour Party marches on.

The reviewing party. In Princess Alexandra's absence, the reviewing officer was The Honourable Steven L. Point, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.

    Slow march past.

The regiment formed hollow square, the drum line stacked their drums, and the drum major went forward for the presentation of the new mace.

No. 4 Guard chambers their blank rounds.

    Volley fire by Guard.

March off to "The Black Bear".

We were there too and mighty glad the weather held throughout the event. It was great to have been part of the celebration.

Great photos. Could someone in the know, explain why the officers escorting the Lt Governor and presumebly his equerry are wearing levee sporrans. I understand that the officers were escorting a representative of the sovereign for the parade review but usually only his equerry is in levee dress, if at all.

I don't know the answer to that, DK. Maybe Seathanaich knows?

That is the Commanding Officer, and I suspect the Honourary Colonel wearing the Levee sporrans. The Pipe Major also has a Levee sporran.

As to why, perhaps, regimental quirk.
