    Re-pressing 4YBP with an Expert

A little while back I solicited the advice of our esteemed rabble re: re-pressing a 4YBP.
    I learned...
    1. It can be done by the owner - Tobus treats his own kilts and has a reputation for very high standards.
    2. 4YBP kilts, due in large part to far less material than a tank, require periodic "maintenance" - nothing major, but attention, as it were.
    3. I am scared.

After consulting with M.A.C. Newsome, I decided to send it to Bonnie Heather Greene. The following image series are her expert - with no further embellishment necessary - work re-pressing my M.A.C. Newsome 4YBP Robertson Red. I ca'nae thank Bonnie enough. I ca'nae do what she did.
Considering Bonnie's stirling reputation, the outcome di'nae disappoint and lived up to my already high expectations. In fact, the result was so impactful, we've made agreement on an annual schedule, by which my kilts will receive the "attention" they merit, from hands of her quality.

"Measure and make gauge for width and centering based on hipline" - Bonnie

"Some badly pressed pleats..not symmetrical" - Bonnie

"Press out old 'Before' creases" - Bonnie

"Measure each pleat with gauge (top to bottom), mark with pins, fold and baste each pleat edge." - Bonnie

"Press basted pleats, top to bottom" - Bonnie

    "All pleats pressed" - Bonnie

Bonnie's communication throughout the process was exemplary.

Re: Highland Dress, each endeavor is in part an educational excercise. This was nothing short of a valuable learning experience. Most notably, I feel the manner by which I "sweep" the pleats contributes significantly to my specific pleat distortion; e.g. my Liddell is still in wonderful "shape". Yet, the tell tale signs are present at the very bottom of the same three right-hand pleats as the Robertson: a (as of yet) subtle "right-hook" starting about 1.5" from the bottom and curving right, toward the selvage.

    Now, I have an answer.
Thank you Bonnie and very highly recommened.
