    Kilt friendly Colorado?

Just like the title says, how friendly is Colorado toward kilt wearers? My fine wife and I are looking to move next year and me going back to school. Of course the wardrobe goes with you when you move. So any any of the rabble that happen to live in the fine state of Colorado want to chime in please do.

I don't live there anymore, but Colorado as a whole was rather open minded while I was there. I'm going back up there next month for an anniversary vacation and we'll be stopping by the Ren Faire that's going on that weekend as well where I can assure you there will be other kilt wearers. As for day to day wearing of the kilt, I don't see you having any problems there unless you get a job that doesn't allow it in the dress code or something.

Lived in Denver for 4 years, CO folk are chill to most anything. Just dont be kicking dogs, keep an open mind to art, contain your camp fire and its all good. Enjoy the state, it is a wonderful place to live.

In August the year before last I flew to Colorado to visit my parents in Highlands Ranch and go to the annual Rocky Mountain Scottish Festival held there. I flew kilted and took no trousers with me at all. I found everyone very friendly (even away from the festival). When I boarded the plane to go home the attendant checking boarding passes complimented me on the kilt, said "I bet I know where you've just been!", and told me her own clan affiliation.

Here I am at the festival with our own Nighthawk, whom I met there:

"It's all the same to me, war or peace,
I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."

Aside from an occasional gawk, I've never experienced any negativity about my kilting. Be aware, however, that every Colorado resident is now required to own a dog, drive a Subaru and ride their $3000 bicycle down the middle of the highway.

    Where will you be living/educatifying?

Hahaha! Yep, my dad (an avid mountaineer, who climbs in Colorado quite often) informed me of similar observations he's made. He mentioned that whereas Colorado has typically maintained an open minded view about most things through the years, lately they've experienced a rather large influx of hipster-types from southern California and some native residents (specifically friends of ours that live in Ft. Collins, Estes Park, Boulder and Loveland) aren't too keen.

Full disclosure: I own 2 dogs and a Subaru. However, the dogs are leashed, their poop is collected and binned, and I treat them like dogs, not precious little children.

The state is very different than it was 15 years ago, but it would be a mistake to blame SoCal.

That's all I'm going to say, lest I violate the rules. Hopefully we can meet up in August and I can spew my vile political talk at you.

Just returned from visiting my sister in Pueblo. Wore kilts the entire week I was there. No negative comments, just some confused glances. All comments were pretty positive.
If you don't mind people staring you shouldn't have any problems.
While out there I stopped or visited in Fountain, Fairplay, Alma, Monument, Castle Rock, and Brush, as well as Pueblo.

I almost forgot to mention that my sister has two dogs and a bicycle that gets more mileage put on it than her Subaru.

Gawks, and odd looks I get now so used to that. I'm going to be in the pueblo, trinadad area. And I got the dogs covered three big ones (Corgy/Shepard, Catahoula, Husky) don't own a subi, but that can change.
