The Black Watch, Scots Guards, Royal Tank Regiment, The Royal Irish, Wallace pipes and drums from Malta and the Royal Guard of Oman

Another good show but not enough Pipes and Drums(numbers wise)

Thanks Simon this was our ninth visit to the Tattoo, we had a really good time taking in shows at the fringe catching up with family and doin the tourist thing! oh and it only rained a few times
I have a plan to go to Chatsworth for the country fair which is at the end of the month they have solo and pipe band comps Saturday is the solo Piobaireachd, not a true Highland games style but still a good few kilts about and a really nice back drop too

Yes a sad aspect to the cutbacks in the British army is a reduction in the number of British pipes & drums available for the Tattoo. They usually flesh out the ranks nowadays with civilian pipe bands and overseas pipe bands.

I have the 2000 programme here and it lists the pipes and drums of:

    Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
    Scots Guards
    Royal Scots
    Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
    Royal Highland Fusiliers
    The Highlanders
    The Black Watch
    Royal Gurkha Rifles
    Cape Town Highlanders
    Royal Victoria Regiment
    Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa
    The Black Watch of Canada
The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada
    The Calgary Highlanders
The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment

Fifteen pipes & drums all told, and all of them military. (Great to see such a large Canadian presence!)

    I agree!

I was there this week, and while it was a good show, I sorely missed the presence of pipe bands and drum corps they once had!
