Scottish holiday

This year, October 2013, my wife and I again took ourselves on holiday to our favourite country, Scotland. A 650 mile trip from the south coast of England, we decided we could do it easily in a day, to the rented cottage just across from Loch Ness. But our plans were disrupted as the car broke down just outside Glasgow. The excellent RAC man could not fix it, so it had to be left at a garage, and he took us to the airport, where, on a Saturday evening, was the only place we could hire a car. The man at Eurocar National was belligerent and not sympathetic to our plight, but we eventually left with a car, and arrived at our destination. An interesting place on the north coast was Findhorn, a New Age type village; some of the houses are made of old whisky vats. We went to the isle of Skye, over their new bridge. There is no longer a toll, but when there was, a vehicle carrying livestock could travel free. Rumour had it that the canny Scots had a sheep tethered at the beginning, that could be taken across and left at the other end for the next person crossing. On leaving Skye, we came across a memorial to Donald Murchison, a colonel in William MacKenzie, Earl of Seaforth's regiment. He looked after his estate whilst the Earl was in exile after the earlier Jacobite rebellion failed in 1715. My mother's maiden name was Murchison, so I suppose I can say my ancestry goes back to the Jacobites, although maybe well watered down. There is a painting in the Scottish National Art Gallery of Donald Murchison collecting the rent while the English soldiers are looking for him. The weather was warm and sunny, and we had an uneventful trip back home in our now repaired car. I tried to attach pics, but I don't know how.

I recommend the second way described, because for me it is easier and the picture isn't dependent on a 3rd-party to reliably store your photograph.

Yes, Hector, every day, my McDonald. Looks like my pics have arrived. From left, Sky bridge, got a bit sunburnt there: Murchison memorial, should have worn my MacKenzie kilt. Inverary Castle.
