Kilt pin high or low
The title sounds like an option when playing poker. I was browsing through three different past threads on favourite kilt pins when it occurred to me that when someone wears a brooch, such as a Miracle Brooch, it is often placed much higher on the kilt - roughly upper thigh. It's a look I like for brooches, though I always wear kilt pins towards the lower edge. Any preferences among the rabble?

I used to wear my kilt pins (when I wear them) close to the bottom hem, but now I'm more inclined to wear them a bit farther up, based on prior posts on XMTS. It saves on the chance of throwing my back out.

I've take to wearing mine a little higher on the kilt, rather than close to the hem. I have undoubtedly been influenced by XMTS and I like the look, particularly for antique kilt pins (I have a few).

I have a small scar on my right knee from falling onto a kilt pin - I wear them high enough for that not to happen again. Rather damage soft tissue than the knee joint

I tend to wear my pins 2 inches in from the edge of the apron and approximately 4 inches above the hem of the kilt.

To be frankly honest, I seldom wear a kilt pin for fear of snagging on something and damaging my expensive kilts...BUT...when I do I always wear them higher up on my thigh. I don't want them flopping around. I like them right out of the way and looking elegant when they get worn. It shows them off best and minimises the risk of damage/injury.

Can we see some examples of XMTS members kilt pins being worn on different kilts?
Has there been a thread on this? ( I've seen one on just kilt pins but not one on how and where members prefer to wear their pins...)

Here's the placement of one of mine... It's an antler kilt pin made by Taygrd. I thought it appropriate for the Maxwell hunting tartan.

I think a bit higher is better than lower...

First, since a kilt pin is cosmetic, wear it where you like. That aside, I wear mine about where my hand hits the kilt, or a bit below, so I can easily check to see if it's still there. I hate losing them.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
