Seattle, Utilikilts, Hamish, a wedding, & a busted radia
So I drove up to Seattle Friday afternoon for a friend's wedding (I was also the photographer). It was a small not too formal affair, so I wore my ancient Hay from scottishkilts.net with a shirt/tie/vest at the wedding and with a t-shirt around and about most of the weekend. Got looks and stares, "I love a man in a kilt!", "Why are you wearing a kilt?" ("Because it's Awesome!"), saw a girl taking a picture of me with her camera phone, got high fives from strangers, etc. The wedding, by the way, was a stressful and none-too-pleasant day. Then on sunday (a few hours before planning to head back), I was driving around and the radiator on my car suddenly busted (it was hot, and the radiator was 260,000 miles old). We pulled off to the side of the road, coincidentally, accross the street from the Utilikilts store in Seattle. Unfortunately, it was Sunday, and it and everything else was closed. We got a tow, replaced the radiator on Monday, and decided to hit the Utilikilt store before we left town. Inside, we saw pictures of Hamish, and the owner asked incredulously, "You know Hamish?!" (I think they have a shrine in the back dedicated to you, Ham). Another guy that worked there said that he had driven by kilted on his motorcycle the day before and saw a guy in a kilt in the parking lot (it was me! lol). Anyways, to make up for the stress of the weekend, I bought a black mocker Utilikilt, and the rest of the day and the drive back was wonderful.
