Finally a tartan I am "qualified" to wear...

National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has registered a tartan. Not too shabby for a red, white and blue design. I hope they make fabric available... I fear it will have a hefty price tag if they do. I wonder how it would pleat up? I am not good at visualizing the different options.

I will be joining the SAR in the near future - I wonder if they will also be designing a tartan. If so, I wonder if it will have "restrictions" similar to that of the DAR tartan.

Elizabeth, I, like Mike S, (qualify for but do not belong to any of his prestigious organizations) like this tartan. I think that pleated to the stripe with the red vertical as a "flash" (the inner pleat fold) would look great.

My other thought is, I hope that the DAR (Daughters ...) don't limit the sales to women within the organization only. Women of that era made all their man's clothing and I would wear this tartan because I find it appealing.

The greatest coop is that a tartan designed for a woman's group could be used for a man's kilt breaks all sexist barriers.

I'm a son of the American revolution (lower case) and it's cool that they designed a tartan. Odd that it's mostly blue and white.

I'll volunteer to design the SAR tartan!

It looks something like the St Andrews tartan (http://www.kilts.com/bicentennial.htm) but with more blue and less red. If someone has a picture of St Andrews, that might give you a idea of what the DAR would look like.
