Hawaii Tartan Kilt
I am wanting to have a kilt made with the Hawaii state tartan made with 16oz wool, but I will have to buy a whole roll to get anywhere near a reasonable price. I do not need a whole roll, maybe a kilt or two, but not a whole roll.
Is anyone else interested in having a kilt made with the Hawaii state tartan?

I guess it depends on what you consider a reason price. 4-8 yards of a special order is going to cost a lot less than a 'piece' which is the trade term for a roll/bolt and is normally 60 yards. PM me if you want more info.

So far I can only find a single mill that will even make the Hawaii tartan though. And they want over £795 for enough material to make a kilt with. That's completely outrageous. There is no way I am paying over $1,000.00 just for the material.
The only way I can get the price down is by buying a whole roll and splitting the cost out over several kilts.
The kilt makers are going to give me a good price on the production if I can get enough kilts to use up a whole roll. I normally pay £225 to £245 for my 16oz 8 yard wool kilts including FedEx shipping, ready in about 2 weeks.

They must think this is the first kilt I have ever bought if they think I am going to agree to pay those prices.
There is no way I could have attained my collection of over 40 kilts if they were over $1,000.00 each. At least not and stay married at the same time that is, lol.

Most companies who make kilts also have an account with DC Dalgliesh who are a bit pricey for custom weaves (enough for just one kilt), but over $1000 for the cloth is too high. As an example, we have our custom woven kilts priced at $900, including shipping to your door. Other companies are just as competitive I'm sure. Shop around and you'll find a better price than $1000 +.

I just had an Anderson kilt made in the Ancient colors which no one had in stock so it also had to be custom woven and took quite a while for them to weave the material. Unfortunately it seems only the Anderson Modern is stocked. Even with the Anderson Ancient custom weave it only cost me $519 including overnight shipping from Scotland.
I have been ordering between 2 to 3 kilts a month for the past several months from the same kilt makers, so they give me really good prices as a VIP customer. Normally my 16oz 8 yard custom made kilts made from stock tartans only cost me $349 including overnight shipping from Scotland. Its just this particular weaver that is trying to gouge me on the price.
I have been waiting for over a year for a Hawaii tartan kilt now, it won't hurt me to wait another year for one that is affordable I suppose. Personally I don't really care much for the colors in it, but it is needed for certain events with the various organizations I belong to here in Hawaii.

OK, 2 Hawaii Tartan Kilts have been ordered. The kilt shop will be start making them on Monday.
Was able to get them down to about $1200 for the pair of them, but thats still extremely expensive for a kilt. I suppose they will be worth it, at least I hope so, lol.

That is fair. My custom woven kilt last year was $840+taxes, not including shipping.

Which is why one needs to have a PV knockabout kilt, or as many do, reserve their kilt for only special occasions.
