    Kilts and my traditional outfit.

I grew up in the mountains of South Yemen, our outfit is made to meet our needs in such area it's almost like hiking everyday. As seen in the attached picture the " Hazuma" has to be at or above the knee. But when I tried kilts I found them very functional and I have been wearing it almost every day now that I live in the United States. I can say that I'm a Highlander from South Yemen but wearing kilts has so much freedom. Please check the attached photos let me know what you think.

A lot of similarities there, man. I love the big grin in the kilt photo. It might also throw some light into the other discussion on the nitwit that thought that kilts are sinful women's garments. Men wear 'em; real men!

Might I ask exactly how the Hazuma is donned? It looks a bit like the early "small kilt", which was essentially a length of single-width cloth, pleated and belted about the waist.

That's very interesting, mrok! I had not heard of the Hazuma before, but the parallel with the kilt is striking.

You look like you are born to the kilt. You should have a Y-DNA test done. I'm sure it would track straight back into the Scottish Highlands! Glad to have you on XMarks!!

There 2 kinds of the Hazuma, traditional is 4 × 1 yards and modern 2×1 yards and both are hand woven from cotton or wool. No pleats and it wraps around the body start with the left side which goes under than the right over as the pictures show.Click image for larger version.
