    Match - No Match

Ok folks, have this wool sweater but haven't worn it much over the years. After walking the dogs this afternoon I decided to try this on with my Douglas kilt. Herself said "nope" she wasn't buying the argyle and tartan at the same time. Personally, I kind of like it. What say you?

I've done argyll and tartan... But I'm a different sort of fellow...

My gathering for Saint Andrews day I wore a sweater with argyll pattern only on one side, that's how I roll! I will post pics if you want..

It all looks fine and dandy to me. Perhaps a choice for informal events around the home and going for a stroll type events though.

Add a toning Balmoral and you have a great look for dog walking and maybe a cafe afterwards.

That sweater isn't what I think of as "Argyle", which has the diamonds alternate in a repeating pattern. Those on yours are placed randomly which for me is what makes it clash with the kilt. (The tartan having regularity and symmetry.)

Here's what I mean, the regularly alternating diamonds of an Argyle pattern (whether you go across, or up and down, or diagonally, it alternates regularly)

Highland Dress is full of patterns, such as dicing on bonnets and dicing on hose, worn in conjunction with the kilt. Thing is, all of these patterns have regularity.
