My kilts and accessory

Here's my second kilt. It's custom-made, I ordered it from UT Kilts, here the label is still on it.

It was a really dumb idea to order a kilt from the U.S.A., especially as I had to collect the parcel from the customs office, and they charged me 30% tax (!), on the total amount that I had paid, including the 25 dollars that I had paid for the postage. It's really a joke to pay tax for postage.
So for sure I wouldn't order anything like that from overseas any more.

There were very good reviews on the homepage of UT kilts. But I should have known that it's not possible to get a good quality custom-made wool kilt for 100 $.

The sash (it cost 20 $) was even worse, even I can sew better than that.
(I did sew a few simple things by machine in my early twenties, and I could sew in a much straigther line.)

And I have never seen wool cloth of that low quality before.

I just received my new kilt in clergy tartan and I am pleased to report that the quality of the wool cloth and the sewing are excellent.
I am not sure that I am allowed to mention this, but I dealt with USA Kilts.

Sorry for your troubles. Nothing will erase the joy of receiving a new kilt faster than poor workmanship. I would be tempted to ask for a refund and send it back, but as you are overseas I'm not sure how much luck you would have with that.

I have to agree with Tobus…..Wow!....Yep, I'd have to bite my tongue hard!

Dougal, check out USAKilts ..if you ever try again from the USA. Rocky and his guys are top notch and have great customer service!

May I ask please, when you say "custom made", what do you mean?

I was under the impression that UT Kilts are mass produced in Pakistan and that the only customization available was they would hem it up to a different length.

Steve...I went lurking about their website. Options for their $99.50 Special Order Wool Kilt, 51 "Tartans", 5 solid colours, waist & length. Included is their Fit Guarantee. Nothing about appearance.

That is truly sad. A friend had recommended UT Kilts so I gave them a shot and purchased a utility kilt. I immediately noticed a couple small errors in the stitching as well although nothing like what you have posted here. While they were polite in addressing the issue they've surely made their last dollar off me.
