    They are sewn down at the hips (mine is an '06 model) but they are not sewn in the rest of the way, its just ironed fabric. That differs from a UK in that their pleat edges are sewn all the way down, both on the inner and outer edges of each pleat.

    Aaah, now I get it. By the way, love your sig line. The early influence of Lazarus Long is certainly one of the reasons I was fascinated by kilts.

    Best regards,

    If kilts were like cars, I might make the following comparisons

    Utilitykilts -> SUVs
    Stillwater kilts -> Honda Civics
    Handsewn traditionals -> BMW

    Different manufacturers, quality, and functions, but all the same basic item although tough to compare on a point by point basis.

    ... just as are traditional wool kilts.

    ... Because if they weren't, you'd end up with a garment looking rather similar to gathered skirt after the first wash.

    So that would mean that Uk=poor fuel economy
    SWK=A kilt that will last forever
    Handsewn=A Bavarian Tractor

    I don't get the comparison, wink. O'Neille
