I didnt try it myself, but since it's a GIF I'd imagine the gray box around it is the transparency part of the image. You'd need to select the gray and fill it to whatever color your background was, or, better yet, just paste it into your document and the transparency should 'go away' and be transparent.

I think the image actually has a grey background, rather than transparent.

Here's my take, just a little something I slapped together...

    Face of Xmarksthescot.com business card (3.75 x 2.25 inches):

    Back of Xmarksthescot.com business card:

Enlarged face of Xmarksthescot.com business card (a bit blurry):

Enlarged back of Xmarksthescot.com business card:

The card is basic, no frills and 'straight to the point' (appropriate for the majority of business cards). As you can see on the back, I edited the brief 'disclaimer' that appears on the home page for readability.

Admin: Feel free to steal this...that's why its here.

My thanks to the ever-creative Iolaus for inspiring the design.

I like that design very much, I would love to get some printed if it is approved for use (Hank??)

Is there a good quality pdf available? I could sent it to our local printers.

    Graham,

Thanks for the compliment. I have no means to create a PDF but here's a link to a Word doc with the images inserted (normal size and enlarged):

    http://www.clanmacsimoin.com/images/...xmarkscard.doc

The text used (unformatted, ie, not centered) is below:

Xmarksthescot.com is an online community of kilt wearers
and those who encourage the wearing of kilts.
Kilts are men's garments and it is our sincere goal to promote
the wearing of the kilt in more than just a "Highland Games" arena.
Our forums are not intended as a place for men who wear women’s clothing
nor are they intended as a place for men who wear other unbifurbricated garments.
If you want to know more about kilts you’ve come to the right place!

You do not have to be Scottish to post at our forums or to even wear a kilt.
Although the name of this website was chosen long ago for other purposes
the website has since evolved into something extraordinary and it is what it is today:
An international online community for The Kilted.

To join in the fun, visit www.xmarksthescot.com and register with us today!
When I made the card, I simply borrowed the logo at the top of the page, made a blank business card-sized image with the same color background, inserted the logo and then entered the text. I centered it all and there it is.

FYI, the font and font size used on the face is Abadi MT Condensed, 10 pt.
The font and font size used on the back is Abadi MT Condensed, 8 pt.

    Hank,

Sorry about that---it may have been a permissions problem (fixed). Regardless, I emailed a copy of the .doc and copies of the original images to you. Hope you like them.

    Big Paul...thanks!

    For Hank:

While the creative juices were flowing, I remembered that there doesn't appear to be a favicon for the site, so I made one in case you'd like to drop it in to your www/ folder:

    Xmarks favicon

I think you'll have save it as favicon.ico in order to download it properly (it should come up as a bitmap when you try to save it).

I'm sure you can do the rest...
