Barclay,
PV is a great kilt fabric. It holds the pleats well, doesn't wrinkle and if it does it smooths right out. It's treated to resist stains, washes and hangs to dry very well.It seems lighter but if you have a full 8 yrd kilt on it has enough weight to it indeed. It's not as heavy as 16-18 oz wool but it's heavy enough. The wash and wear aspect and the price (a lot less) compared to wool lets you feel free to live harder in this kilt. An expensive wool kilt I sure baby a lot more. For half the price (or more) I can save the wool kilts for formal wear and live day to day in my PV and not worry. If you look around this site there are a lot of people that like PV. I'm not a fan of Acrylic and am not a fan of the mass produced (East Indian) kilts that are made of it.
There are a lot of kilt makers and home sewers that use PV now as a cheaper alternative. CCK offers wool and PV in a lot of tartans but MacHummel wanted as many people to be able to afford this tartan without breaking everyones bank. It's made in the UK and shipped over. With a special request they will make up a run for him but there is a substantial minimum order. It would be only worth doing if there is enough orders to bother.
I hope he gets enough orders because I want one too.

It looks a lovely tartan indeed, I'm certainly interested in an 8 yard one.

My that is a lovely tartan! Very nice indeed! I wish I could get my Goth son to wear a "ridiculous kilt". {his words not mine. I had to set him straight as to who the parent was.} Yes, they are very nice! Ok, now I've found about 62 tartans that I would love to have a kilt made from. Thanks, MacHummel!

^^^Man, you're making it difficult to resist. Per your PM, I'll send you some measurements back later today - I'm not sure where I am on the tape measure right now (30 pounds down and 20 to go).
Thanks for the link to Lord Hamish's picture, Grant. Like everything else, he makes the Maple Leaf look outstanding and makes me want one even more.
As an aside, I've had wool and acrylic kilts but never PV - how well does PV wear, hang, clean up, etc.?

Well I can make the kilt to be a little more adjustable for your weight loss. Still twisting that arm.
