Kilt pin experiment

I got some Sculpy sculpting clay. Once you make what you want you bake it in a 275 degree oven and it sets up hard. I'm going to take a shot at sculpting a kilt pin or two out of the stuff and see how it turns out. I have some silver, gold and copper. If it turns out I'll post some pics.

Dude! That's a great idea for something a little different. The thought that you could make a custom kilt pin for anyone is a GREAT little side business... hint, hint.

When you get going, I'll put in an order for a Bear Claw. That's the kilt pin... not a pastry.

First, the tartan sporran thing. Now the bear claw kilt pin.
I have purchased the rights to a fantastic piece of artwork from a well known Native artist. The piece is called Bear Paw and is going to make a great pewter kilt pin!

After a bit of play, I can tell you this polymer clay is not the easiest stuff to work with. It gets pretty sticky. I'm figuring out techniques though. For one thing, do a little then put it in the fridge to chill. It helps keep it firmer and less sticky. Shouldn't be too long til I'm ready to do something serious with it. One thing I have discovered, this stuff can be used to make molds for resin casting and it's pretty inexpensive.
