It's spreading!!
I just opened the newest Museum Replicas catalog, and found their centerfold. It's a "Practikilt"!!

It's, of course, a rip-off of Utilikilts, and, from the pictures in the catalog, not nearly as well designed, but it's a lot cheaper - $70, $80, and $380 for leather.

Is it me or is that just a tad short on him?

It's way short on him.
There's more pictures in the catalog, and it looks like the kilt falls to about 4" above mid-knee. I think that he is a big guy though. There are pictures of other people in the catalog; some kilts look a little short and some look like about mid-knee. I'm guessing their stock (and apparently only) length is probably a medium length.

It would be nice if they gave the length.

I called the 1-800 number. The results aren't promising.
The operator didn't know the length (!). She did, however, say that the model is 6' 1", and he's wearing a Medium. She knows a guy who's 5' 7", and the hem falls just above his kneecap. (Still a bit short, I think.)
She doesn't know the number of pleats (she guessed it had TWO pleats), the depth of the pleats, or the weight of the garment. She knew of no other online resources for the PractiKilt -- not even a photo of the back.
One thing she did know is that it has a rear pocket.
One thing I know is I won't order one unless I know more about it. With what I know, I have to agree with the original conclusion: It's a cheap Utilikilt knockoff. The operator said they had lots of inquiries on it, so, who knows, maybe there'll be more on it soon.

UK ripoff
I think UK should be happy with this. Looking at the practikilt and the UK I know I'll buy another UK. Everything about UK is a plus. American made, quality, and a lot of really fun people to get to know.

Not bad looking I guess. I'm still not quite there yet though. I still can't see me in anything other than a tartan kilt... just a personal thing. Maybe one of these days.

They need to show the pleats! I guess this would be a good cometitor to the sport kilt boulder. Who's first?
