For Those in the UK
I think most of our UK posters are either south or north of the flooding, but I hope you are all well, & at least relatively dry.

Oooops! Sherry, it seems you know something that I don't! I have not heard about any recent flooding over here, but then I hardly ever read a daily newspaper and usually manage to miss the evening news programmes on TV due to my being on-line or otherwise occupied. Nevertheless, thank you for your concern.
If this happened on Tuesday or Wednesday, we did have a couple of hours of the wet stuff falling on both days but it amounted to very little - just enough to prevent me mowing my lawns. In fact we desperately need rain, and a lot of it. Here in the south of England we still have a hosepipe ban as a result of the extremely light rainfall during the past twelve months. Our local reservoirs are, on average, only 20% full when normally at this time of year they would be 75-80% full. If we have another dry winter we will be in serious trouble next summer! So: let it rain, let it rain, let it rain (but not to the extent of there being flooding!).

There is also quite a bit of flooding in the Northeastern US. New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut etc. Something like a foot of rain in some areas. My thoughts go out to those on both sides of the pond.

With the greatest respect Iolaus, that report was dated five years ago, when we DID have some flooding here in the south.
Currently, we are in desperate need of rain in this part of the country, and prolonged rain at that, to restore the depleted water levels in the reservoirs, and natural aquifers which lie within the chalk of our local hills.

Oh wow, you're right!! What a coincidence that the date on that report was the day before I posted it, except years earlier. It was the first thing to come up on google when I searched "England Flooding" and I just glanced at the date. Thanks for catching that.
