Albannach Band

There is a "new" tribal Scottish pipe and drum band that has been formed up from members of the old Clann an Drumma.



The Albannach Band members are (l-r) Aya Thorne, Kyle Gray, Jacquie Holland, Donnie McNeill and Jamesie Johnston.

Albannach is appearing at the Sheriffmuir Inn, this evening, for the Battle of Sheriffmuir Commemoration. They will also be playing at the St. Andrew's Day Rally in Edinburgh on 26 November. More details about the Rally are located HERE.

The newly-formed band is working frantically to get a couple of CD's and a DVD if a live performance available, as soon as possible.

I'm yet to hear their music . However they look like they make a great noise.I look forward to a CD when they come out.

David, exactly what happened I don't know but everyone except Joe left the band and formed a new one. I hear Joe is planning on restarting Clann an Drumma with all new people but I doubt it'll work. I've never heard of a band losing that many of it's people and surviving. It must have been a dandy of a fight to prompt everyone to walk out.

Bubba, actually Joe Mackenzie was the only Clann an Drumma member left. The other members left to form the Albannach band. Joe claims to have some new members signed on to replace the others and apparently Clann an Drumma will move on from here.

Albannach should be about ready to take the floor at the Sheriffmuir Inn, as I type this.

Mike, all I'm saying is I've never seen a band take this kind of hit and come back. I hope Joe does manage to do it but I'm not optimistic. On the other hand Alabanach are used to working together and should do great. As for the reason for the breakup, I'm clueless.

I knew this was all happening, it's ashame about the split, but these things happen.

I wish both bands the very best, I suspect the music will be similar tho' there may be a need for a change of direction for Joe, musically.

Mike do you know what Albannach means? Alba=Scotland right?
