Nov. 30th - Canton, Ohio
Okay guys, here it is.
Service of Thanksgiving
and
Kirkin' O' The Tartans
Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Canton, Ohio
St. Andrew's Day Wed. November 30th
7 pm
Programs will be available for the service.
It should be fun, and you can listen to the service LIVE by clicking here:
LISTEN LIVE: Nov. 30th 7pm - Orthodox Kirkin' O' The Tartan Service
OR just go here and bookmark it for November 30th.Click here
I think that based on the listener-ship to this service (which I hope will be high - we have listeners in over 60 countries), the regularity of the "Kirkin'" may soon be established.
Listen in if you can't make it!

A Kirkin' o' the Tartan in an orthodox church. I wonder if this is a first.
I will spread the word my direction for you, Father.

Orthodox Kirkin'...
I'll bookmark the site on my computer at home this evening, Father, and I will be sure to "tune in"! I'll even put my Russian icon of St. Andrew by the computer! ;)

Don't forget, folks.
This Wednesday, November 30th at 7 pm Eastern, we are broadcasting our Kirkin' O' The Tartan Service of Thanksgiving in honor of St. Andrew.
The very front of this thread has the "listen live" link, so I won't repeat it here...for now. ;-)
If you are in the Canton, Ohio area, this is the first Kirkin' ever performed in an Orthodox Christian Church. Join us.
If you are not in the Canton, Ohio area, listen live to the broadcast.
Pipe Major Tim Wiley of the Akron and District Pipe Band will be our guest piper.
Oh, what the hey, more info at http://holyassumption.net/rector.html
Pics on our website will follow.

Of course, I will try to make a few pics available here, but most likely, since I'm not good at figuring out how to do that, I'll provide a link to the pictures instead.
I hope that's okay.

Hey KCW, thank you.
I need all the help I can get on such things.
This promises to be, at the very least, fun and interesting. Pipe Major Wiley is a great guy, and an incredible piper.
People with Scots heritage in my parish are beginning to pop up all over the place, so I've included a special section on the tartans associated with their names, and some district tartan pics too, at least as best as I can tell from the names I know.
Maybe I'll have to post the program, too, just to get feedback about it.
