    Question Traditional-looking in leather ???

    Hi All ;
    What I really want for Christmas (or soon after ..) is a traditional-looking black leather kilt. The new UK is nice but not what I want, others are also close but not quite. Does anybody know if there's a kilt builder that can do such a piece ?

    CT - wishing Bear would send my California kilts before the end of the month.

    You may want to check with Robert at Rkilts to see if he can work up a traditional looking one for you. His leather kilts are beautiful. http://www.rkilts.com/new_page_2.htm

    Not sure I'm reading this right, but if you're talking about having 30 three inch deep leather pleats across the back of your leather kilt your talking about a LOT of money for the leather and a LOT of weight - maybe too much to hang from your midsection.

    I have a Utilikilts brown leather, and other than the lack of pockets, love it. Same texture as an old baseball mitt.

    I have an RKilts saffron leather kilt that DOES have pockets and I love it too...I call the color "buckskin."

    Can't imagine the weight or cost of either kilt with more pleats. Think if you had some way to try on one of Robert's or UK's leather kilts you'd see that.

    Only other option would be to use thin and lightweight leather, but don't think that would hold up with normal wear and tear.

    Thank you boys

    I looked at the RKilts page, will give them a holler after the new year. The link to the ones form the UK worked good but 2 grand is more than I can ever afford for a kilt. Weight is a concern but what I have in mind won't be too heavy and it'll be more of a special occasion kilt than anything. I have my UK and a couple others to bang around in and Stillwater has some nice stuff. I'll be throwing cash n their direction soon.
    Anyway, Thanks for your time and thoughts.

    CT - Red Jenn says I look good in black leather, this will take time and effort.

    CT - I have keys and money, no cargo for my pockets. :razz:

    Leather Kilt

    I ordered a traditional 6 yard leather kilt from Kilt Store ( see advert at the top of the X Marks page) for £500.00. When it arrived it was absolutely wonderful. I had to send it back because of a sizing issue and I am eagerly waiting its return. I have not worn it but it certainly looked and felt like excellent quality.

    Josh,

    Just checked your site. Looks good. Might be sending you an order this year.
