    First Kilted Adventure

I got my Stillwater Hunting McLeod a few days after Christmas - so today I had my first kilted experience - at Walmart. I needed to pick up a fishing license to do some fly fishing out of state with a friend tomorrow, so I thought "Its a new year why not start it in my kilt?"

Before walking into the store I decided to do one thing - look folks in the eye - and smile. To be honest, there wasn't much reaction to my kilt. Most folks were too wrapped up in what they were doing to notice. I did get a few blank stares from the guys and smiles from the ladies. I did get a few comments - from moms and grandmoms with kids in tow. They were mostly - "hey look honey he's wearing a kilt!" and one young woman who looked me dead in the eye and said "cool."

I know you have all had your first experiences - so this is nothing new to you, but this newbie thought "what a rush!"

    Thanks for letting me quack.

Its a "high" for sure. And you've found the secret. Stand tall, walk proud, look them in the eye, and smile.

Kinda fun too when you can lock eyes with them...they wanna look away to check your kilt but know you'll know what they're doing if they do, so they don't...sorta like a "gotcha looking"

You found the secret Ron, whether its kilted, blue jeans, dress slacks, or skyclad, just stand proud, walk tall, and they'll never take your dignity.

From one Phil to another, it's great that you started the year off kilted. It really is a high.

Good for you, my first day out with a Kilt on was in Norwich (England) a large city in Norfolk, and I also found much the same, I have been out since and found just the same, I went out last night kilted (New Years eve) to a local Pub and I had just one man asked "what was worn under the kilt" and I just replyed not a thing it's all in good order

    Phil,

Glad that you showed enough confidence to look them in the eye. It is a great "high".

    Well done!

I love to read these "adventure" postings...must be the best way to advertise kiltwearing.
