    Kilted Juror #6

I just got done with 2 weeks of grand jury duty in Brooklyn and was the recipient of more than a few stares and comments as I walked through the courthouse in my kilts.

The guards all asked when the bagpipes were coming in or when I was going to start marching. I had my rugby warm up jacket on and someone said I should try playing rugby in my kilt to which I responded, "You think I haven't?"

The district attorneys all got a kick out of the guy in the "skirt." On one of the rare days when I didn't wear a kilt, I was doing the crossword puzzle when an ADA walked in to start us up on a new case. Not really paying attention to where she was I blurted out the answer to one clue that was giving me problems and said, "There's no accounting for taste." The female ADA joking looked at her own outfit to which I said, "Hey...I've worn kilts in all week...." Before I could finish the sentence she said, "So you're the kilt guy! All the ADAs are talking about you and some people want to schedule cases with your jury just so they can see them."

    Ah....a mini-celebrity for a day....

LOL it was a scream. I got stares of disgust from one woman passing by me and before she passed and I said, "I know...my skirt is better than yours..."

That, at least, made her smile....

Maybe it should have been "I didn't have a thing to wear."

    Kilted Juror

I occasionally wear my heavyweight black kilt when I am sitting as District Court Assessor, as a change from the more usual pinstripe trouser suit. Worn with plain leather sporran, black argyle jacket and black hose, white shirt and black tie and a black court robe which is open at the front but comes to ankle length at the back it presents a modest and businesslike outfit which does not detract from the dignity of the court and any comments I have had from the public or other court officials have all been favourable.

Every so often I attend City Council Meetings and of course they try to appear "professional" but one time I over heard two of the Council members talking, and mine said "Yep he's in my district, all the people know him as the kilted neighbor."

Just love those type of things.

I dunno... all those flips and high kicks and such, especially in the scene where Keanu and Carrie-Anne Moss come into the building (all the security guards...) might be a *bit* much

Granted I have a shaved head, was wearing a black leather blazer, a black linen banded collar shirt, and my black UK Survival kilt, with black Doc Martens so I probably looked like something out of The Matrix.

And that's why you're a naughty man! They'd have to use some pretty strange camera angles to pull all that off without some exposure!

I like to use the "under my kilt" response to the bagpipe question the most - unless it's clearly inappropriate for the situation.
