UKs and fluctuating waistline?

For starters, this is my first post, so hello. I've been lurking for a while and have really enjoyed what I've learned.

I just ordered my first UK (tan, original). I am one of those types who's weight can fluctuate pretty dramatically (I have jeans ranging from 33" to 38" waist and they all fit from time to time), and I'm wondering how much slop there is in these things. I ordered 37" waist- what the tape told me on the day (I'm currently in 34-36" pants), but hope tho shed some winter weight as it warms up and I start biking again. Do they look foolish cinched up with a belt? Is there some give for next winter?

I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Paco500, first off WELCOME! Great that you decided to join. Best forum on the web.

UK's do have some flexibility. I have a 40" and a 41" that I wear regularly with no problems. I also have a 39" that I bought off eBay that I might be in by the end of April. There is some room for adjustment, but 5" seems like it would be too much with UK's snap system.

To be fair- the 33s I have would probably be 34s by another maker. It's the last pair of 33s I've been in for years.

I have 14 UKs and one of the reasons is that flexibility. First, hope you got your UK sized to wear under your belly - if you got one. That part doesn't change size as drastically.

There's also flexibility from the top snaps up, the waistline has a couple inches give back and forth.

I'm back and forth over a 15 pound weight range and my same UKs still fit.

Yep. I plan on wearing it slung low like my levis (really old navy, but that doesn't really have a ring to it.

There is definitely flexibility. Most of my UK's are 36", but last year I lost about 20 lbs. They all still fit, but I bought a 35" last summer. Later in the fall I got a 37" when I worked a UK booth and nothing in my size was on the rack. I wore the 35" today, and the 37" yesterday, both fit reasonably well (they are both workman's style).
