Thumbs up Quite the Kilted Afternoon

Yesterday afternoon I went down to Old Town Alexandria (VA) for the last event of Tartan week - The National Tartan Day Celebration of Music. I enjoyed a few pints, a couple of drams of good whiskey and pipers. Not to mention more kilts in one place than I've ever seen.

There were all sorts of outfits from full semi-formal daywear to ultra casual. In fact one guy had on a denin kilt (looked like a high quality one) with black boots and (you know the biker wallet w/ chain?) a biker sporran . I noticed at one point coming back from the washroom that his T-shirt said Edinburgh Harley-Davidson.

Had an interesting conversation with another guy about the benefits of box pleats vs. knife pleats.

Stopped at the scottish shop on the way back and picked up some hose & flashes.

All in all a good day.

Ahhh... I wish I had gone but had previously agreed to help out for a demo at the cherry blossom festival in D.C. Of course the demo was cancelled due to rain so I could have gone the the Tartan day event anyway. Oh, well. Thanks for the summary. Maybe I'll wear my kilt today.

KT: No need to move from where you're at:

And, there's always the White Lion Pub in Tulsa -- a very "kilt-friendly" place -- even if they are Liverpool FC fans there!

    Cheers,

    Todd

6927 S Canton, KT, near 71st and Yale. I happened to be at the nearby Doubletree Hotel for a meeting back in '02, and several of us attending went over to the pub that evening, dressed in kilts, and were very well received by the staff and patrons alike.
