    PV sources

I talked to one of the folks from my clan organization on Saturday and she is interested in possibly have the Bruce Modern tartan woven in PV. She thinks there might be enough interest from other members to have a run woven up. I gave her the link to Marton Mills. Are there any other companies I can give her? Also can anyone tell me what the minimum order would be to have ity woven ?...I know I will order enough for 2 kilts plus extra for various other stuff, and she wants to use a good bit of it to decorate the clan tant for festivals.
    thanks in advance
    John

Minimum is 130 METERS (not yards) and will run about $13 to $15 per meter by the time you have it in your hands.

    Also, N. Bately

Will weave custom order of Polyester Viscose. However, I've seen their stuff, as have several of the kiltmakers on the board, and it's OK for home furnishings, school clothes and so on, but it's awfully light for kilts. Also, the selvedge is no way at all appropirate for kilts, so youll have to hem your kilt or fringe it.

They may weave a heavier weight of PV on special order, though. You'll have to ask. Be aware that they're not the greatest at communication via e-mail. However, their prices are pretty good.

Ouch!.....not sure we could justify that much...I just sent an email to the second place that Alan mentioned to see if they would be willing to do a heavier weave. I want a Bruce modern USA philabeg and a Semi traditional for highland game use so I am doing the leg work for the clan organization on this, Do you guys think any of the kiltmakers might want to get in on a bulk order since we have to order so much?. Also Rocky is the 130 meters single or double width?
    Thanks again ,
    John

    pv

is there a reason that you are only looking at pv?
have you considered 100% wool or 55/45 poly/wool? we could weave either for you with only a 30 yard minimum, double wide and selvedged.
contact me offsite, if you want to pursue this.

    Thanks guys,
The reason I was looking for PV is that she wants a lot of material to decorate the clan booth. we were looking at PV mainly for cost effectiveness and for ease of care. I want a couple of kilts made in it to compete in the highland games in. I do plan on eventually having a wool kilt made in 16oz Bruce modern and a box pleated kilt made in 16oz Bruce weathered. Gordon i sent you an email. I am just doing the legwork for the clan since I knew you guys would have all the answers I needed , as always

If you can work with wool/polyester blend...and you probably can, IF the colors are available, thre's not that much difference between that and PV, if you buy in bulk. 20 yards is a lot easier to scrape together than 1,000.
