Coordinating colors with tartan
I had my daughter take a few snapshots of the new tank, but I have a question for those more experienced (Hamish?):
What color shirts/hose would be most appropriate with the tartan? Black obviously works, and I think my dark green t-shirt is OK, but I don't particularly like the idea of too much green. The ancient red in the kilt applied to a shirt would look awfully Christmassy, and I'm not a big fan of white shirts. So, what are my options? Charcoal? Heather gray?

Yeah, I know, I need to get some sun on those lily-white legs…

Does this butt make my kilt look big? Especially with the pleats blowin' in the wind.

A closer look.

I like the way the stones in the old Miracle kilt pin pick up the colors.

I'm with Moosehead. I've got two kilts with a green base and often wear tan or oatmeal with them. Just need to get the tones to match.

Thanks, Matt. It was custom-made for me courtesy of Arthur Spelman Rose, who designed it. He refers to these belts as the "Three Roses Kilt Belt", and plans production of no more than 1000. Mine is #0341, is stamped with my initials, and came with a nice certificate of authenticity. The belts are actually constructed by Art's Amish friend, Joniah Hostetler, and are beautifully hand-crafted. The belt is a full 4" wide, of saddle-grade leather (gorgeous thick stuff!) with high-quality nickel hardware that is normally used only in horse tack. Sorry if I sound like a commercial, but I love this belt! I hope he won't mind that I give you all his contact info: poliglot@csweb.us

A tan shirt and a pair of oatmeal hose with bottle green flashes would look good with your kilt, good look!

Well I think this lad proves Cawdorian's point about the light/tan/oatmeal color shirt working well with your tartan - but he also proves that he knows very little about wearing a kilt.

I laughed out loud at this. All I could think was, "But I want to go for a walk..."
I like the oatmeal/tan idea as well. Beige and green go very well together.
