    just ordered my first Kilt!

Its gonna be a Black Twill UK off the scratch and dent list. They're so expensive usually I'd like to save money any way I can. I've had an interest in them for awhile now since I saw Patrick Norton wearing one on The ScreenSavers years back. It wasn't until recently that I saw an ad for a knock-off brand (PractiKilts) that thoughts of getting one came back to me. I think back then I didn't get one because of the cost, and even now its a big hunk of change for me. I thought about going with a cheaper brand but UK is probaly the most recognized modern Kilt.

I've never noticed any other kilted men in my area of Connecticut (besides at certain festivals/conventions/events). So hopefully I won't have too much trouble with some of the close-minded/rednecks around here!

One can only hope. BTW I hope ya don't mind my Screen-name bein so similar to yours Bubba. My nickname IRL is Bubba as well so I incorporated that into my SN years ago when I first got online.

Now my only problem is waitin for the darn thing! I'll be floored if I get it in time for next weekend when theres a car show I wanna go to.

    Talking YAY it finally came!

A little late for the weekend so I couldn't show off at the car show Sunday. But I'm so glad it came. I'll definetly be wearing this at the General Geek Convention (tm) I go to volunteer at every year. Well heres the pics...

I was suprised to find the packaging so simple, was expecting a box more like this (which came the same day for my cell phone card)....

just for shits & giggles, heres all that came in that box

    What a waste of cardboard!

    Neatly folded and unharmed!

    got that fresh kilt smell

The Darn Sun was to my back so they didn't come out the best. But the only one I got facing the other way came out badly.

Those were taken after I went around town on some errands. Most people either didn't notice or just didn't say anything. Only my bank teller (whom I used to work with) asked me what it was and why I was wearing it. Then as we were leaving a couple ladies in an SUV were pointing at me, of course I wouldn't have noticed had my mother not said to him "That's my son! He looks good in it!" Oh yeah I almost forgot: One lady at the Ice Cream Shoppe we went to did say she liked it!

Man its a nice feeling garment though. I'm wondering why I've been wearing pants for so long! Now I just need some more. Luckily my mother might help me to start stitching up some so I can save some money.

Quick question: I only had one incident where the wind blew up my kilt a little too much for comfort. Luckily I wasn't going Regimental. Any advice on what to do when that happens?

    Welcome!

keep in mind that yes, you will most likely by more kilts, and yes, we have support groups for those aflicted with a "kilt addiction". Hamish heads up meetings when they happen...

The ScreenSavers is what turned me onto UKs too. I, like you, wanted one for several years before I was able to get my hands on one. It was a gift and several years later I haven't been able to get another, but my UK (workman's black) is still alive and kicking. I love it. Hopefully I will have another within the year. After having the UK, I now want a tartan.

You might look into working the UK booths at faires and such to earn point towards another UK.
