    Celtic Croft Feilidh Beag...mild review

Just opened up my box from the Celtic Croft...
One 6 yard feilidh beag, in Ulster red tartan, just as ordered. Beautiful tartan... probably one of the nicest I have seen in a while; the colours contrast and accent each other very nicely. The fabric itself is well woven, I have no gripes there...can't beat the price really either. So, I got to pleat it out by hand, and give it a go. The first attempt didn't work so well, and was very sloppy because of how I placed my belt. I didn't do a very good job of sliding it under the garment. Second try came out ok... it was still a little sloppy, but really, not bad for my first attempt at this. Comfortable, light weight, but feels thick. The selvedge isn't 100% uniform, but it's homespun, and no one would notice anyhow once worn... Hell, you barely notice with it laid out. Pleats were nice and full, I could have gotten away with one more on each side. I also did really broad pleats...to the stripe...and the Ulster has a relatively broad sett. Slop aside, it felt like it had great swing. I haven't gotten any pictures yet, but give me some time.

If anyone is considering the Celtic Croft, I would recommend them. Their homespun is a good value, and looks great besides. Of course, this is only based on a one time experience, but I would definitely order again, and I just might next payday, depending on how much I earn (I missed some time).

    Hmm...pics...
when I can get the pleating down a bit better, and get my wife to snap a few shots. I am also only using a standard belt at this time, as the order that my kilt belt is with is still waiting to be filled (that's the downside of backorder). All in all, a very nice transaction, I was just about to email Joseph and Lorie and express my appreciation.
