Jabot
Does anybody have any information about jabots? I'm assuming that they are a derivation of a cravat, but I was wondering if anybody had done any research? Looked at portraits and that sort of thing.

I know that French judges wear them.

I can tell you they're hot.
I can tell you they're uncomfortable.
I can tell you they're a pain to keep straight.
And I can tell you they're worth it because they look excellent.
Cheers,
Nick

History
I should have explained - I'm more interested in the history of the Jabot - what preceeded it? I'm assuming that it derived from a form of cravat, but doesn anybody know when the jabot came about?

For sheer elegance I believe they cannot be beaten, and the wearer just knows he is going to stand above all others at a full-dress function. I'll be wearing mine at PiM and Emma's Burns Nicht Supper in January!
