Smile Hailing from Western New York

Greetings from nowheresville! I live out in the country/suburbs with my family (I'm 17, almost 18 in february) and like it alot (nice and quiet ) And I've been interested in my scottish heritage (on my mothers side) for pretty much all my life, but only recently (past year or so) been looking into wearing kilts. So far I havn't worn a kilt, but my brother has alredy made one and we're going to make a traditional (cotton fake tartan from walmart I don't have the money for $90 a yard for tartan wool *cough* cheap *cough* ) kilt over Christmas break. I actually have kilt hose and flashes with the U.S. (saint andrews I think) tartan that I got last year when my brother made his kilt and just havn't had the chance to make my kilt yet. If all goes well I'll also recieve a nice dress white rabbit sporran for christmas
Anyhoo, I've been foruming for quite a few years now so no concerns about being a forum nooby  I've been lurking here reading and absorbing info for a week or two now and decided to join, lot's and lot's of info! Oh yes, I almost forgot, my other hobbies also include creating computer art (I made my avatar) and yoyoing. Well I look forward to foruming with all of you and untill then, happy kilted trails and I hope to join with my own kilt soon!

    Matthew

Welcome from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Nice to see younger people getting interested in kilts, but especially being able to make your own. That is something that I am noticing more and more. Can't wait for the pictures!

    DALE.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I'm originally from Buffalo, and I know there are a few other members from around there. I still have family in Batavia too, with a cousin right around your age.

Good luck with the kilt, and keep your eye out on some of the lower costs alternatives like a USAK casual or a Stillwater.

Welcome from Southeastern New Mexico! It's great indeed to see younger chaps getting into kilting.

Just a thought: you can find 16 oz., worsted, St. Andrews tartan on Ebay for WAY cheap from time to time. You might keep an eye open for it.
