    Some pictures (finally) and observations

    Hi All,

I attended a work social club function last week, and finally had some digital photos taken by some interested parties, I hope you enjoy them:

Here are a few observations I have made following this and a few other recent kilted outings:

    - Ladies, in general, will want to talk to you.

    - When sober, older ladies are a lot more forward about asking 'The Question' than younger ladies are.

    - After a few drinks, the younger ladies pluck up the courage to ask, or will try various sneaky ways of finding out for themselves!

    - People from China (of which there are many at my place of employment) are very interested in the whole kilt/Highland Dress subject. I spent a lot of time answering questions about clans, tartans, sgian dubh, bagpipes etc. from my Chinese colleagues.

    - Somebody will always say, "If I knew you were going to wear a kilt I would have worn mine!".

    - Wearing the Cornish National tartan to a Highland Gathering is a great way of meeting people; you will be asked by many folks what tartan you're wearing, as they don't recognise it.

    - With reference to above, Scots are not 'precious', they think it's great that you're wearing a kilt in the Cornish National tartan.

    - Your three-year-old son gets upset because he hasn't got a kilt!

Have any of you folks had similar (or opposite) experiences?

    Cheers,

    Troy

Point taken re: smile - for some reason I've always had a bit of a problem forcing a smile for the camera, really have no idea why!

Thanks for the tip re: sporran - will remember to buckle up an extra hole next time. I had only just put a new chain on a few days before - the one that was supplied with the strap was very poor quality, and a little bit shorter - and I guess I simply buckled up to the 'usual' hole.

    Cheers,

    Troy

    Troy,

    Looks good.

With respect to the lack of smile, I have the same problem. Been that way since I was six years old. Probably because I noticed that there was a camera in use and the smile kinda wiped off my face. And, ever since I was 9, I usually preferred to be on the other end of said camera. In other words, looking through the viewfinder.

That said, it almost looked like you were a little overwhelmed by the attention you were getting from the ladies...

I have to admit that I was a little overwhelmed by the attention I was getting from these ladies. A nice problem to have for a single chap, but I had to make sure Mrs. Troy didn't think I was having too much of a good time without her

The Cornish National tartan is wonderful. I wouldn't mind having that one.

Great pics, you wear your kilt very well.

Methinks all the ladies in the photos are thinking, "AT LAST, a REAL man."

Very very nice Troy, you look grand in the Cornish Nat. I just bought Cornish hunting for my wife, I'd like a kilt in it for myself.

    Who made your kilt?

Come down to Tassie and we'll have a kilt night!
