    Tartan socks.

Anybody know where to find them? Also, What is a micro-tartan or mini-tartan and where do you get them? Just curious.

Higgins's tartan and diced hose do not have a good track record. A friend of mine and I both ordered tartan hose from them several years ago to match our kilts, and both pairs frayed and wore out very quickly, even after we followed the "care and feeding" instructions.

I would suggest as an alternative, the Tartan Thistle in Washington State:

I bought a pair from them, 100%, hand-knitted, and they are much, much better than Higgins -- you pay a bit more, but you get what you pay for.

    Regards,

    Todd

The blend hose that Higgins sells was the ones I was referring to in my previous post; in other words, you get what you pay for. My DW would much rather that I buy quality items so I don't have to keep replacing them! That is the true definition of "frugal"!

    Talking mini tartan

BTW, Beuth, to return to the other part of your question

I think a minitartan is a "tartan" with fewer thread counts which produces a similar pattern with fewer threads per color.

But I like McMurdo's mini tartan better.

Man, I have a hard time spending the $20-50 on a good pair of kilt hose.... I can't believe I would drop $100 on socks.. (that's 1/4 the cost of a Matt Newsome box pleat!)
