    New T-Shirt---help me with the phrasing?

    Gents, ladies, rogues, rapscallions, the rabble in general:

    I want to have a t-shirt made up, but I'm having trouble nailing down the wording. I think I've made progress, but I'm not sure if I've finished it off.

    I was thinking of a black t-shirt, with white lettering, in a Times New Roman font, lower case.

    "Everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time

    Everybody but me."

    Would "everyone" work better in place of "everybody"?

    Variants? Improvements? Egg nog recipes?

    Well, there is that grammar thing, you know, matching the pronoun to its antecedent.

    Everyone and everybody is singular, but their is plural. MOst people don't care, but some do. (Like English teachers.)

    But as matter of fact, on a tee-shirt, I'd go with everybody. Just sounds friendly.

    How about:

    "Everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time...

    Except me."
    Then: "PROUDLY KILTED!"

    As another English teacher, I'll have to agree with thescot: concord is essential.

    As well as being friendlier with everybody, I think "body" works well as a physical description linked to what is beneath the t-shirt.

    Not to hi-jack your thread but my tee shirt reads;

    "My wife wears the pants in our family...but I take them off!"

    Ordinarily, I fear that I do tend to be something of a grammar enforcer----but I was going for a more informal feel. And since I'm pretty much kilted 24/7, I (personally) don't think I'd add the "Proudly Kilted" but that's just me. Thanks for the input, guys!
