Massive new tartan range - please comment!
Once again I'm asking for your kind thoughts on yet another major upgrade to our Tartan Finder. Feedback from this expert community has been hugely helpful in the past, so any thoughts and criticisms are as usual very welcome! It's at http://kiltstore.net/materialfinder.html
The main changes are:
1. We now offer the ENTIRE tartans list from the Scottish Tartans Authority, available woven to order in single kilt lengths at 11oz or 16oz (unless copyright). This effectively trebles our existing (large) range.
2. We've redesigned the search/browse interface yet again to make it clearer and more helpful than ever before, based on earlier feedback.
3. We've added many new fabrics off the shelf, particularly at the budget end of the spectrum. If any mill weaves it, we should have it.
4. Many tartan images are larger and much improved, including the STA ones that are generated from thread counts with a clever algorithm that we believe shows them more accurately than anywhere else.
5. I'm not sure if I've said this before, but we've also added a huge tweed range, including loads of authentic Harris Tweeds. Tweed kilt anyone?
There are still a few known issues that we're working on to iron out, such as tartans showing the wrong nationality, or being shown separately when they should be grouped together. But please let us know of any issues or problems at all, as we steadily improve what we believe was already the world's best tartans resource. Much appreciated guys! :-)
Thanks
Nick

It looks like a great search tool. You have an extensive database and it is easy to use. But no swatch of the Scottish National??? ;)

Loading full size images works for me, but its slow. probably too many xmarkers trying at once. impressive selection!

I spoke to Matt Newsome today and he said that he sent the thread count and a sample of the X Marks Tartan fabric to the SCA for their records but did not pay out of his own pocket to have it registered and listed in the public files.
Here is a copy of the original thread count and what was used by Fraser & Kirkbright to do the weaving.

Nice update and a few more options in a tartan I am interested in!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I'm in trouble now. Just found 2 tartans at $84.72069 per meter that I need to add to my wish list. Both of them companies that are now part of the one I work for.

When I click on a tartan eg. Polaris to get a larger image, it doesn't load (the loading msg just goes on and on . . .)
Best regards,
Jake

Ditto what Monkey said. Otherwise, it's great.
