    Another Newbie

    Hi there.
My name's Arlen Donald and I'm a 23 year old man from Glasgow, Scotland.
I'm engaged to a wonderful American woman who has just moved back to America so that we can apply for a visa and live there.
I'm proud of being Scottish and decided to join this community to talk with like-minded lovers of Scotland even after I've moved out to America.

I also like to have more than one kilt.
Right now I'm lucky enough to have a Macdonald ancient muted hunting kilt, a Macdonald modern kilt, and a very unusual macdonald modern dress kilt which looks more blue than usual thanks to some very large and bright checking.
I'm also saving to get a Macdonald of the isles ancient muted dress kilt for my wedding, so here's hoping I can get the overtime.

So hello again and, to end, here are a few pictues.

This one's me going fly-fishing in my hunting kilt.

This is myself and my beautiful fiance Diane at Glasgow University's Scottish country dance ball in December.

So hello to everyone and hopefully I'll be posting again soon!

Welcome to the rabble Arlen, from Snellville Georgia, USA
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Hi there and thanks for the welcome.
I have a few friends out in Georgia. One of whom I recently gifted with his first kilt so that he can wear it as best man at my wedding. A lovely Stewart hunting tartan.

Another welcome from southwestern Ontario, Canada

I think it's fantastic that young people such as yourself are keeping the kilt alive and well. You look great in yours BTW. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and best of luck with your relocation.

Thanks for the welcome, and the good wishes.
I'm one of those people that thinks it's important not to let our past or culture slip away.
Kilt's shouldn't just be worn at weddings, especially as they're so versatile.
My sister and I are making an effort to speak gaelic after it died in our family with our great-grandfather.
My dad always brought us up to be proud of who we were and keep it alive.
Hopefully we'll see a resurgance in that attitude along with this fashion of kilts that's sprining up lately.

    Thanks for the welcome.
Being from North Carolina, I don't suppose you've heard of the Outlander books?
(I know, I know. My fiance was gulled into reading them by her father and she got me to read them with much protesting before I accepted they were actually really good books.)
I just wondered if you get the same kind of comments about them as we do here.
