Strangest question I've ever had...

I'm walking out of church last weekend. Black-handled "sgian brew" in my sock. An older gentleman to my surprise asks "Well, are you going to play us a tune?" I assume that he's asking a variation on the bagpipe question, so I reply that my son is the piper. "No" he says..."Why don't you play your flute?" Now I'm thinking that this guy is being remarkably crude...until he points to my right sock. "You mean this?" I say, pulling my sgian brew. "Oh, I thought all scots carried a flute in their sock." Yeah...he was seriously under the impression that all the sgians he's seen in his life were small flutes.

When I carry one, I put a pen or pencil in my sock. I learnt it from my Dad who used to do it because they would fall out of his shirt pocket. I've never seen anyone else put pens or pencils in their sock, though.
