    Anyone else like Marmite?

I'm just sitting here reading these posts and eating cream cheese and Marmite on crackers and I was wondering if folks here liked this vile stuff as much as I do.

Brings back memories - haven't eaten marmite for years - but I used to quite like it when I was a kid.

You didn't get some for Valentine's Day? Nothing says I love you like Marmite. I haven't tried it in years.

Stolen picture from another site where the same thing popped up almost as if by some evil plot.

No I didn't even know about the Valentine's Day connection. I had made some rather bland yogurt cheese and needed something to "jazz it up" and was making a mess with it all over the desk. I just started wondering.
A local supermarket chain had a whole mess of it on sale for $.50 a jar so I bought the whole lot a couple years ago. I don't think it could possibly go bad; but then again how would you know?
I've never had Vegemite (I like to annoy people by pronouncing the waterfall to rhyme with IT) I'm going to Canada next weekend, do they sell it there?

Bob, you can get it here, but you'll choke when you see the price, especially after getting some for $.50 a jar!

I prefer Vegemite, but Marmite will do if I can get any. Luckily there is an English store nearby that sells both. Marmite is a bit more liquid than Vegemite which is more like soft butter. It is dark brown, and some think it's a chocolate spread - hance the shock with the salty cheesy beefy taste.

It's actually a Yeast extract, made from -get this- the residue scrapings inside the barrell of either Beer, Ale, or Stout(?) I really can't remember. Loaded with Iron, Niacin, all kinds of Vitamins. Tastes slightly like a Boullion cube. "Newbies" usually hate it. An American friend once pronounced; "It looks like cat sh** and tastes like it! A female friend started screaming something about "being violated"! after I gave her some.....

Being raised with it, served on buttered toast is the next best thing to heaven! I love it!

My niecephew loves the stuff, and also Vegemite. She's very picky about what she eats too. It's not bad... I eat orange peals and brush my teeth with baking soda and dish soap, so what do I know...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
