    Joe Gondek hand-made sporran

I recently got a classic “pouch” sporran made to the specifications found in the late J. Charles Thompson’s book “So You’re Going to Wear the Kilt.” Crafted by our own Joe Gondek. He posted a description of one ..here..

The one I got is made of very soft, black deer hide and is people sized, (by that I mean that I can open it, get my hand in it and find stuff!) durable and very, very usable. I have been using it for about a week now, and the pouch / Rob-Roy design is very user friendly. –and it can hold much more than I first thought. This nice sporran has garnered several favorable comments from those that understand kilt wearing.

I really like it, and I hope to get Joe to make me another one soon.

    Thanks Joe!

Beautiful Work! I've seen Joe's craftsmanship first hand. He was born in the wrong century. Only folks in the know can appreciate the handwork involved.

Hey Joe! Did you braid those leather cords yourself? If not, where did you get them?

Wow, that pouch looks really handsome, Jay. I have a similar one in a different shade of brown that expands to hold quite a bit of stuff.
