pleats and a full work day?

Thinking of start to going to work kilted, but I was wondering, oh you holy ones, you who go to work kilted, how do you manage, or better yet, how do your kilt pleats manage being seated all or most the day?

I am web developer for our firm and that requires me to spend 75% of my 8 hour day sitting.

That can't be good for the pleats unless I rearrange/get up and quickly sit down again, can't it?

Any suggestions/recommendations from those of you who already do it?

I have been wondering the same thing since getting the go ahead from my boss about working kilted.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Ask and thou shalt receive! Check out Hamish's video on how to sweep the pleats.

I have had the pleasure of being kilted for over a year now every day including the days I go to work. A few things for you to keep in mind, remember to sweep your pleats. I find that when you are at work kilted you must project a clean and neat appearance, as an example I always wear my hose up with garter ties or flashes, most days I leave the sgian dubh at home.

As far as wrinkles go, wear a good quality kilt, a cheap kilt will wrinkle much faster. I work at a financial printer where I am at the desk in front of the computer myself, and I find that my 8 yard Royal Naval Tartan by Barb Tewksbury is virtually industructable, I have yet to see a wrinkle in the pleats yet.

I just sweep & sit (There is a video with Hamish showing how) Unless you wriggle around a lot, your butt should keep the pleats pressed.
More chance of wrinking in the car, as it pretty much requires a "twist" to get behind the wheel.

Good call, is there any good technique on how to get into a car without messing up your pleats? I drive a jeep, and it's hard as crap to sit right in that thing with a kilt on.

I can attest to the heavy-er kilts holding up better to being sat on. I have a kilt that wrinkles if I look at it wrong, but my 18oz tank laughs at wrinkles.

I use the squat and scoot method mostly....

sweep and sit or squat and scoot both work to keep the pleats looking fresh all day long... I also sit at a desk all day and this works for me.

I'd like to also add that my 13oz tank doesn't suffer from wrinkles as bad as my PV kilts do, so the material also plays a big part.

I spend my day bouncing in and out of a chair. I am on my feet when it comes to checking inventory, but parked on my fat butt while keying the data into the computer. My 13 oz and 16 oz wool tanks just plain don't wrinkle. I do sweep my pleats every time I sit, and as much as possible do the two hand sweep. My USAK P/V kilts rarely get a wrinkle, and that generally goes away after standing for a short time. BTW, I still sweep my pleats when sitting.. even on the days I am wearing jeans.
Now that we have covered the wrinkles to the kilt part... Sitting in a kilt requires practice. See Hamish's video. With the proper sweep, the pleats will be flat pressed under the bum. If the pleats aren't properly swept, the heavier kilts will supply wrinkles to the back of your thighs, and sometimes to the bum.
