Ever Been Arrested While Kilted?
Aldisimo's ressurection of an old kilted in jail thread got me to wondering if anyone has been arrested and jailed while kilted. On that thread Caradoc told of a guy he knew arrested and jailed in Phoenix while wearing a great kilt. I've been caught for speeding and given a ticket while kilted. Anyone been locked up as an inmate kilted, or know of someone who has?

I don't know of anybody but I definitely would not want to be the arresting Officer and having to frisk the suspect

I've been careful to not do things that would get me arrested. I have no desire to see the inside of a jail.

Last April I had five weeks of Grand Jury duty. I wore a kilt every day, no problem.
One of the things we did was a tour of the Wash. County prison. I was wearing a kilt in the lockup and but had no contact from any of the inmates and no coments from the gards. So I guess I have been kilted in a prison but never arrested.

I got arrested once, about a year ago. I was doing something stupid (exploring an abandoned factory), but they tried to get us for felony burglary (we hadn't taken anything.) Luckily the charges were dropped and I was charged with just "criminal mischief", which is a misdemeanor.
I spent ten days in county jail, which was the most awful experience ever. Four people crammed into a cell designed for two (I had to sleep on a mat on the floor, next to the head.) No books, no nothing. Luckily I wasn't kilted, but either way, it was an awful experience.

Ron, during my 32 year career, I spent 10 years in the County Jail. I've had some interesting people come through with a vast array of clothing, but no kilts.
(Wait, there was that one drunk homeless guy... no, that was a skirt. With a matching blouse. Shoes didn't match, though...)

Confession time, I suppose. I have been arrested three times- back in the early 80s. Didn't own a kilt then, but did have a habit as I was with the Franciscans in California. Didn't get arrested in my habit either. (For those who might not know what a habit is picture Friar Tuck from Robin Hood, though not all Franciscans are that portly.) But I was with some friars who were in habit when arrested. Jail time was pretty brief on two occasions- as there were so many people and the jail was so small- we were released on our own recognizance, pending trial. Everyone was shown respect by the officers involved- in habit or civies. The other time, I spent the night in jail and later 2 weeks- that judge was not so favorable to our activity- and we had to lose our street clothes in favor of beautiful county jail attire. Jail is no fun, too easy to get into trouble without ever intending to. Now you all probably want to know why, or maybe have guessed, the reason for my arrests was due to peaceful non-violent protests. Today, if I did that, I would not go kilted intentionally.

Nope, only searched at security check points.

Same here. But they did have a lot of questions as to where my sgian was. I don't carry one anywhere where I'll be checked for just that reason.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear
