The Power of the Kilt x 2
It was an auspicious day today. Wore my brown UK workman to our local Art & Wine (and beer) Festival. One of those events where they shut down the main street in town, and have booths vending art, and local groups pouring drinks.
Anyway, I'd only been there a few minutes, when a woman working a beer booth shouted "A man in a kilt! Hey come over here!" I gladly obliged, and she said anyone with guts to wear a kilt deserved a free beer. Can't argue with that. int:
Moving on to an area where a band was playing, I was watching a my wife and daughter dance when another woman came up to me and said that she had purchased too many drink tickets, and thought that since I was wearing a kilt I was a deserving recipient of her extra ticket. I assured her I would put it to good use. int:
Two free beers for wearing a kilt! A personal best.
Best regards,
Jake

Great feeling, isn't it? I've had that happen a few times at the local Father's Day Brewfestival. Each time it was a guy on his way out with unused beer tokens, and he decided to give 'em to the guy in the kilt...

I think 2 beers beats 4 slices of pie, Jake, but both illustrate the point. And the point is The Power. It truly is a kick when these things just happen out of the blue. and the more you get used to wearing the kilt as a garment, and therefore present yourself as comfortable and confident therein, the more one seems to attract these occurrences.

Hmm, I don't know . I mean you got your pie in Kentucky, which has got to be a tougher crowd then Northern California.
On the other hand, there was four (count 'em - 4) different kinds of cakes offered to the entire Nor Cal Rabble in attendance at the last Kilt Night at the Devil's Canyon Brewery (the one with Big Mikey). One of the band members was celebrating a birthday, and they brought waaay too much dessert. Only the nearby gentlefolk of the kilted persuasion were invited to help remedy the situation.
Best regards,
Jake
