Clan Portrait T-Shirts (R. R. MacIan)
Many of you may be familiar with the famous portraits depicting various clan members painted between 1845 and 1848 by artist R. R. MacIan for inclusion in James Logan's book, The Clans of the Scottish Highlands. They have become perhaps the most recognizable depictions of Scottish Highland dress from that era. You see them on post cards and bookmarks and all sorts of things.
Well, now you can own them on a t-shirt! There are over 70 available.

Before anyone comments, our current list does not show MacDougal or MacCrimmon, I realize. This oversight will be soon addressed, but you can order those names, as well as any of the others listed.
Enjoy!

I've always been super-jealous that the MacBean, MacLachlin, and MacMillan have such awesome illustrations, and Gordon is just a guy fishing...

The MacRae one I've always found awesome. A guy toting off a boar?!?! WOW! How cool is that? lol.
There was no Henderson portrait done in these, I was already aware of that. Were I to buy one it'd be the MacDonald of Glencoe as the Hendersons were very closely tied in with the MacDonalds there, through the massacre and all. The Gunn would be my other choice as the Hendersons are a related clan at Caithness. Beautiful illustrations; all of them.

And pray tell, what's wrong with fishing?
Methinks you need to read Norman Maclean's A River Runs Though It my young friend, to understand the importance of fishing to Highlanders.

That's odd, the Gordon branch of my family, it's a sept, were known for fishing. The MacMillan side were mostly poor "HillBilly" and "Okie" type folk . All good people though.
The shirts are an interesting idea; I will pass that link on to some of the family.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Greg, would you rather have the fisherman, or the guy all dolled up for the French Court?
(Can anyone guess which one represents my main Scottish line?)
