Sporran on the hoof
I wasn't sure whether to post these pics, but since we relocated this critter instead of skinning him, I decided on the off topic section. He and his brother that we caught on Tuesday night have been coming up on the porch and eating the cat food we put out for our cats.

A few pieces of cat food and he's caught. He isn't too happy about it either. The one from Tuesday was nearly twice his size.

Amazing. I had a HUGE, and I mean humongous, bull opossum crawl under our guest house and die last week. The consensus of opinion was that he died of a combination of old age and hypothermia-- I don't know why I feel compelled to share this; it has nothing to do with white socks, pocket knives, or any of the other subjects I usually feel compelled to comment upon.
Perhaps I should go have dinner...

I also had a huge opossum die under my house a couple of years ago--and he got to a place that was very difficult to get to. I had to fashion a contraption to reach, hook and pull out the carcass. The beast was beyond sporran material at that point. Yuk!

Can't say I've ever made a sporran out of one, but it would be fun to try.

How about Armadillo? Think of the possibilities. Sporran and groin protecter all in one.

Opossums have more teeth than any other mammal. 36 I think. Just thought I would share that.

Try "marsupial."
And they do like cat food! Friend of mine named one "Crunchy" because the noise it made raiding the outside cat dish would wake him up at night.

A fantastic idea, slipping such language into the cocktail hour. Before the evening is over, we'll have worked our way up to "multifocal umbilicated silicofibrillary-augmented craniomaxillar prosthesis." Open the floor to suggestions!

That would be an awesome sporran to have, especially in/near Texas!
