Rocky's Favorite Kilt
tired of seeing the locked purchasing just the fabric thread as the most recent post on the usak board, so i thought i'd start a new thread.
rocky, whether through necessity, experimentaion or a lust for a new tartan, you've no doubt made yourself a number of kilts. two questions here:
1. what is your favorite kilt(s) that you've made for yourself?
2. what is your favorite kilt(s) made for you by another kiltmaker?
same two questions go out to kelly if she is interested in answering. we don't care if you're not interested in answering... you have to answer anyway.

I go through phases of what kilts / tartans I like the most...
I curently own 38 kilts. Over the years, I've probably owned 70 or so. As I get bored of a particular tartan or color, I sell it. That's (partially) how I fund my kilt wearing... sell old ones to raise money for new ones!
My favorites RIGHT NOW (winter months) are my 8 yard Buchanan Weathered (16 oz) and my 8 yard Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (16 oz).
In the summer months, I prefer my lighter weight kilts... Cameron of Erracht Muted 5 yard wool (16 oz) or my 8 yard German Heritage (13 oz) kilt.
I also wear a few contemporary kilts during summer months while working outside or if the shop is closed and I'm working in back (3 UK's, 2 FK's and 1 RKilt).
Bottom line... it really depends on mood.
My favorite kilt from another maker? My hand sewn Isle of Skye. It was made for me by a maker in Scotland who we use when customers ask for a Hand Sewn kilt. The craftsmanship is superb and the tartan (Isle of Skye) is very handsome.
Kelly's favorite kilt is her Firefighter's Memorial (wonder why )

interesting.
is there a specific kilt for which you have an extraordinary personal attachment to, in perhaps the same way one would for a kilt made in their family tartan?

The Law Enforcement and the German Heritage tartans... I designed them and produced them, so I obviously have some personal sentiment invested.

That one is just a fashion tartan designed by the mill. It is a very popular one.
