    Wooden Kilt Pins

I was inspired by another fellow carver to take to handcarving kilt pins for family and friends, and it has been a hoot. I just about have Christmas for 2009 squared away. I have been using maple, purpleheart, mohagany, walnut, and some others that I am not sure about,....anyway here are some pics.

and I also made up some hemp necklaces,

    Thanks for looking.

Thanks, my wife stole it as soon as I completed it. I am in the process of trying the same knot in 3 different types of wood.

I am so glad you've done this. I am trying to put together an ensemble on a budget - only buying what I have to and attempting to make what I can. I had thought about a wooden kilt pin, but did not know how it would be received on the forum. Now I have no fears and will go for it. I especially like the purpleheart, it should go well with an Isle of Skye tartan.

    Regards

    Chas

Very nice indeed! I particularly like the Tree motif.
