Kilted Opera
A few weeks back I was asked to perform in the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island's production of The Yoeman. I sang with them last year (HMS Pinafore), but was not able to commit to a full part in this years show. They are in need a larger guy to play the part of the executioner (no singing) and sing with the male chorus (offstage - I can read the music as needed). As I told them I could I offhandedly made a comment about making the executioner wear a kilt.
Yesterday, I received an email from the costume manager who said that she pretty certain that she has the director almost in kilted agreement.... now I just need a black kilt.
I know Stillwater has them (but not a 48 .. I have to see if they are getting more soon) -- but does anyone know who else sells low cost, good/decent quality black kilts?

The first performance is 5/30 and material is open ended as long as it looks good...

I would say get an Amerikilt. http://www.amerikilts.com/ I have 2 and I love them. The material is stiff and you'll need to iron it before every performance, but otherwise, they're awesome.

Kilted opera
Not to highjack, but. . .
I am an opera singer, and I have SO wanted to do a production of Lucia di Lammermoor in which the artists are kilted. Everybody seems to want to do neo-Euro-grunge as a design style instead of lovely tartan in that show.
