New Social Group: Steel Bonnets
I'm extending an invitation to all descendents of the Border Reiving clans to join me in the social group I created: The Steel Bonnets.
Principal reiving clans were:
Armstrong, Bell, Burn, Charlton, Crozier, Dacre, Dodds, Douglas, Elliot, Fenwick, Forster, Graham, Hall, Harden, Irvine, Johnstone, Kerr, Maxwell, Milburn, Noble, Reed, Robson, Scott, Turnbull
There were others involved as well, but that list is a little long for this post.

The Border Grahams were for the most part English.

That may be, however my Grahams are the Scottish variety, I'm first generation Canadian, my parents were both born in Scotland.

On reflection, my comment probably came across somewhat blunt (if not smart arsed).
My understanding is based on George MacDonald Fraser's 'The Steel Bonnets' and, IIRC, he has them orignating in Scotland but largely settling on the English side. Somewhat like the Armstrongs in reverse. In any event, a bold reiving bunch.

No problem, at all, my surname is a sept of Graham, my family went North at some point, my Dad was born in Blackburn just outside of Aberdeen my paternal grandmother was a Gunn, so some of them at least went North for noe reason or another.
