Pleating Decision
OK, I think most all the issues from my other post are well on the way to a resolution. New issue...
My kiltmaker just sent me some photo's of my options on the pleating for my new kilt. The sett on my MacKintosh Hunting Modern is a bit large, a wee bit over 9". It'll be 8.5 yards so with my waist there will still be a good 20 plus nice deep pleats. My quandary is I'm unable to decide which I like more. I thought I'd reach out for input. I'm torn between: to the sett and to the yellow stripe. Also it will offset the number of pleats a few one way or the other. Please share your opinions. Also if any of you have a MacKintosh Hunting kilt, how is it pleated? Pics? Thanks all, this is my first hand sewn kilt, it's exciting.
Cheers,

Joshua C. McIntosh

I prefer pleating to the set.

Me also.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I normally like kilts pleated to the stripe, but I think this would look better pleated to the set so you can see the red.

Me too.
What about pleated to the double red stripe?
I know, I know... I'm complicating

I would echo Mipi's question. although I am a pleat to sett person myself I think the double red strip might look quite nice in this one. Might be worth a trial.

Well I have to disagree with the others so far and I personally think that pleating to the stripe would look real nice.

I'm also one of those fond of pleating to the stripe and do so whenever possible, but in this case believe that pleating to the sett appears to be the more attractive option.

I think that pleating to that yellow stripe would look great. I like the contrast it'll give between front and back

Pleating to the yellow stripe is a very military type of look (and I like it), but in this case I prefer the sett to allow the full view of the pattern.
With that being said, there is really only 1 answer... You need a kilt pleated each way!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
